Denmark lies between 54° and 58° of latitude north and 8° and 15° of longitude east. In addition to Denmark itself, the kingdom also includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Denmark consists of the peninsula of Jutland and c. 406 islands, of which c. 78 are inhabited (2003). Of these, the largest and most densely populated are Zealand on which the capital of Copenhagen is situated, Funen and the north Jutland island.

Denmark has approximately 5,4 million inhabitants - this amounts to roughly 1,4 % of the total EU population. It is possible to follow demographic developments in the Danish population back to 1735 on the basis of censuses and statistics of births and deaths. The population then was roughly 718,000. The first census took place in 1769, when the population was estimated at c. 798,000. After 1840 censuses were held in Denmark every 5 or 10 years, most recently in 1970. Since that date administrative registers have been used to calculate the size of the population. On 1 January 2005 the number stood at c. 5,397,540.

The geographical area used as the basis for censuses has twice been altered: in 1864, when the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein were ceded to Prussia after the defeat of that year, and in 1920, when Southern Jutland (North Schleswig) was reunited with Denmark. In 1900 the population in Southern Jutland was c. 148,000.

Business and Economy

The business and economy of this country has been doing good for the last some years after a steep decline in the graph before the nineties. The country has been doing quite good in the export sector and is reaping good dividends. International market leaders among Danish companies includes firms producing cement-making machinery, hearing aids, enzymes for food processing and washing powder, water purification equipment, draught beer fittings, medical measuring instruments, insulin, wind turbines and much more. The country is also doing good in the field of softwares.Proofs of this include a large software export and the fact that service provision (public as well as private) has become by far the largest occupation, employing 35% of all workers.

An export branch that is becoming increasingly visible in the balance of payment is culture, including films such as the groundbreaking so-called Dogme films, bestseller books such as Peter Høeg’s Frøken Smillas fornemmelse for sne (Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow) and music successes such as the percussion duo Safri Duo and the pop duo Junior Senior.

Danish companies have their own genesis. They have often sprung from a good idea or a small invention which the inventor starts producing using his own savings. In this way, industry has become dispersed all over the country. If the inventor is in luck and has found a niche in the world market which has not previously been intensively cultivated by others, the small workshop in the village or provincial town can grow into an international corporation. This has been the development so far for companies such as Danfoss (thermostats), Grundfos (pumps) and Lego (toys).

Major Cities

The major cities of this country are Copenhagen, Aalborg, Århus, Kolding, Roskilde, Odense. These cities are the major commercial hubs of the country and the maximum revenue comes from these cities.Apart from the commercial point, these cities do also have a lot of tourism value. There are a lot of beautiful sight seeing places in these cities and lots of tourists from across the world do flock these cities for a glimpse of these beautiful sights. The population of these cities are very broad in their thoughts and have a tremendous weakness towards celebrations. Even a small reason is good enough for a celebration for the people of these places. All in all this country is a sound place to invest and earn and also tour.

Hi i am looking for a wire stripping machine. The stripping should be done by heat or by laser so the core of the wire wont take damage. Have you got any machine that can do this, and if not, do you know where to find one? Regards anders.
